An orgonite pyramid is a handcrafted object made by combining natural crystals, metal shavings or copper wire and polyester or epoxy resin inside a pyramid shaped mould. When the resin hardens around the crystals and metal elements, it creates a solid composite object that locks all three materials together. The pyramid shape is traditional across many cultures as a form associated with the concentration and direction of energy, and it is the most popular form for orgonite pieces.
The concept of orgonite was inspired by the work of Austrian psychiatrist Dr Wilhelm Reich, who in the twentieth century proposed the existence of a universal biological energy he called orgone. He observed that organic materials appeared to attract this energy while metallic materials reflected or repelled it. Building on this idea, Don Croft later created the modern form of orgonite by combining organic resin with inorganic metal shavings and natural crystals, proposing that this layered combination would continuously attract stagnant or negative energy, transform it and reemit it as beneficial positive energy.
This energy is known across many ancient traditions by different names. Chi in Chinese philosophy, Prana in the Indian tradition, and life force or vital energy in various Western traditions. Orgonite practitioners believe the pyramid brings together the energy-conducting properties of metal, the amplifying properties of crystals and the containing properties of resin to create a continuous working energy tool rather than a passive decorative piece.
What Is Inside an Orgonite Pyramid?
Every orgonite pyramid is made from three core components working together:
Natural crystals are the energetic heart of each pyramid. The specific crystal or crystals used determine the visual appearance and the energetic character of the piece. Our collection includes pyramids featuring Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, Garnet, Tiger Eye and mixed crystal combinations. A Clear Quartz point is often placed at the apex of the pyramid to amplify the energy flowing upward through the piece.
Metal shavings or copper wire typically copper, aluminium or brass, are embedded throughout the resin. The metal element is considered the conducting component that attracts and moves energy through the pyramid.
Resin is the binding matrix that holds the crystals and metal together and gives the pyramid its solid form. When the resin contracts as it hardens, it creates a permanent pressure on the crystals inside, which in crystal practice is said to activate their piezoelectric properties and amplify their energy output.
Orgonite Pyramid Varieties in Our Collection
Rose Quartz, Amethyst and Garnet is one of our most visually striking combinations. The warm deep pink of Rose Quartz, the soft purple of Amethyst and the rich red of Garnet create a warm, layered colour palette inside the resin. This combination brings together crystals traditionally associated with love and compassion, spiritual clarity and vitality.
Rose Quartz, Amethyst and Clear Quartz is a softer, lighter combination dominated by the pale pink of Rose Quartz and the violet of Amethyst, with Clear Quartz amplifying both. This is a popular choice for bedrooms and living spaces.
Garnet and Clear Quartz creates a bold, deep red and clear pyramid. Garnet is one of the oldest used gemstones in history, taking its name from the Latin word for pomegranate in reference to its deep red colour. It is paired with Clear Quartz for amplification and clarity.
Tiger Eye produces a warm golden brown pyramid with the characteristic chatoyancy (silky light reflection) of Tiger Eye visible through the resin. Tiger Eye is traditionally associated with grounding, focus and personal courage.
Mixed Crystals combines a range of different crystal chips in a single pyramid, creating a multicoloured and visually varied piece. Each mixed crystal pyramid is entirely unique in its colour distribution and crystal composition.
How to Use an Orgonite Pyramid
In your home or workspace — the most popular use of orgonite pyramids is simply placing them in a space as a continuous working piece. Near computers, televisions, Wi-Fi routers and other electronic devices is a traditional placement for those drawn to the idea of electromagnetic protection. On a desk, bookshelf or meditation altar is equally common.
During meditation — hold the pyramid in both hands or place it in front of you during meditation. Some practitioners hold it with the apex pointing upward and focus attention on the apex as a visual anchor. Others place the pyramid on specific areas of the body during energy work.
In feng shui arrangements — in feng shui practice, pyramids are placed in specific areas of a room or home to anchor positive energy and counteract stagnant or difficult energy in that zone. The pyramid shape is considered one of the more powerful feng shui tools for energy correction.
As a gift — orgonite pyramids are popular as gifts because they are visually beautiful, meaningful and genuinely unique. No two handmade orgonite pyramids are identical, which makes them a thoughtful and personal gift for birthdays, housewarmings, Christmas and wellness-oriented occasions.
Orgonite Pyramids vs Crystal Pyramids
Orgonite pyramids and crystal pyramids are related but different products. A crystal pyramid is carved or cut entirely from a single type of natural stone, such as Amethyst or Clear Quartz, and polished into a pyramid shape. The entire object is the crystal itself. An orgonite pyramid is a composite object containing multiple crystals, metals and resin all cast together inside a pyramid mould. The crystals are visible through the clear or translucent resin but the overall object is not itself a crystal. The orgonite pyramid is prized for its combination of materials and the continuous interaction between them, while a crystal pyramid is prized for its purity of material and the single-stone energy it carries.
Frequently Asked Questions About Orgonite Pyramids
What does an orgonite pyramid do?
In orgonite practice, the pyramid is believed to continuously collect stagnant or negative energy from its surrounding environment, transform it through the interaction of the organic resin, inorganic metal and natural crystals, and reemit it as positive balanced energy. Many people use orgonite pyramids as decorative pieces in their home or workspace, while others use them specifically in meditation or feng shui practice.
Where should I place an orgonite pyramid?
Popular placements include on a desk near a computer or other electronic devices, on a bedside table, in a living room as a focal display piece, or on a meditation altar. In feng shui, the pyramid is placed in the area of a room associated with the intention you want to work with, such as the wealth corner or relationship area.
What crystals are in orgonite pyramids?
Our orgonite pyramids contain combinations of Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Clear Quartz, Garnet, Tiger Eye and mixed crystal chips. Each combination creates a different visual character and brings together the traditional associations of the crystals included. A Clear Quartz point is often placed at the apex to amplify the energy of the other crystals inside.
Are orgonite pyramids the same as crystal pyramids?
No. A crystal pyramid is carved from a single natural stone and polished into a pyramid shape. An orgonite pyramid is a composite object made from crystals, metal and resin cast together in a pyramid mould. Both are used in crystal and energy practice but they work differently and look quite different. Browse our crystal pyramids collection if you are looking for single stone carved pyramids.
Are orgonite pyramids good gifts?
Yes. Orgonite pyramids make beautiful and distinctive gifts because each one is handmade and entirely unique. Their combination of natural crystals in a resin base is visually striking and appreciated by people who are not necessarily familiar with crystal practice as well as those who are. They suit birthdays, Christmas, housewarmings and wellness-oriented occasions.
Do I need to cleanse an orgonite pyramid?
In orgonite practice, the pyramid is considered self-cleansing because the continuous interaction between the organic resin and inorganic metal is said to transform negative energy automatically. Many practitioners choose to cleanse the crystals inside the pyramid periodically by placing it near Selenite or using sound cleansing. Avoid water cleansing as resin is not water-safe.
